The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a 22-year-old in Tashan Randa village, in the Fika area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, on Thursday.
According to him, the arrest was a significant success in the command’s efforts to maintain security and safety in the state.
Abdulkarim noted that on May 6, 2025, armed individuals attacked the residence of a man, identified as Maikudi, abducted his daughter, and injured another girl in the process.
He stated that the kidnap syndicate requested N5m for the release of the victim.
He also revealed that operatives of the command took prompt action on the case and initiated an investigation that led to the rescue of the victim and the dismantling of the kidnappers’ den.
“The police received demands for a N5,000,000 ransom, which facilitated the rescue operation.

“Through collaborative efforts with hunters, the police arrested two suspects linked to the incident, Waiti Bello, 30, and Idrissa Adamu, 35.
“Other members of the syndicate are currently on the run, and efforts are intensified to apprehend them soon.”
A dane gun and one motorcycle were recovered from their hideout.
It was also stated that the apprehended suspects have confessed to the crime and are assisting the security operatives with their investigation.
The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to eradicating crimes from the state and called for community collaboration in the fight against insecurity.
He said, “The police command’s swift response and collaborative efforts with hunters have yielded positive results, and the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the state’s residents.”
