The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two serving soldiers and 20 other suspected cult members during a midnight raid on Hilton Hotel in Osiele, Abeokuta.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, confirming that the operation was carried out on July 25, 2025, based on credible intelligence.
“Acting on credible information, a joint team comprising operatives from Odeda Division, Aregbe Division, the Anti-Cultism Unit, and SWAT, led by SP Adejoh Israel, stormed the location at about 20:20 hours,” Odutola said.
The raid targeted suspected members of the Aiye confraternity, believed to have converged at the hotel for a clandestine meeting.
According to the police, 22 suspects were arrested, including two soldiers, 19 male suspects, and three females.

Items recovered from the scene included:
One cut-to-size locally-made gun
One UTC axe
Several blue beret caps linked to the cult group
Odutola added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Anti-Cultism Unit, Eleweran, for further interrogation.
“There was no casualty during the operation. The command remains resolute in its fight against cultism and other violent crimes. We urge residents to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing operations,” the statement read.
