The Kogi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers during an enforcement operation on Third-Party Insurance compliance along the Harbour Bay-Egume Road.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Chelim and Oneh Mohammed, were apprehended while officers were conducting checks in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Confirming the arrest in a statement on Friday, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, William Ovye Aya, revealed that the suspects were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for their movements when questioned.
A search of their belongings led to the discovery of two locally made pistols.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for their movements. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a locally made pistol in their possession,” Aya stated.

Commending the officers for their vigilance, the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, reassured Kogi residents that the Command remains committed to working with other security agencies to rid the state of criminal elements.
He also urged the public to support security efforts by providing credible information that could help track down criminals operating in the state.
