Two people have been nabbed in Adamawa State for allegedly abducting a four-year-old child and demanding for ransom.
The Adamawa State Police Command arrested the two suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction of the four-year-old boy in Ngballang, a community in Numan Local Government Area.
The Police authorities said on Friday that the incident was reported on March 2, 2026, when Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang, lodged a complaint at the Numan Police Division that his son, Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1 but failed to return home.
According to the authorities, initial efforts by the family and community members to locate the child were unsuccessful, only for the father to receive a call a few days later from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped.
The kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, following the report, operatives attached to the Numan Division launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23, both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area.
Nguroje said the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, and the command has since directed its Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Nguroje reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

Initial search efforts by family members and residents of the community failed to locate the boy. A few days later, the father reportedly received a phone call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped.
The abductors allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the child’s release.
Confirming the development in a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Suleiman Nguroje, said police operatives from the Numan Division immediately launched an investigation after the report was filed.
Their investigation led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23, both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area.
According to Nguroje, the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. He added that the command has transferred the case to its Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The police spokesperson also reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Adamawa State.
