Police in Lagos along with some health officials, on Thursday, exhumed the corpse of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The nurse who allegedly injected Mohbad shortly before his sudden death, has also been arrested by the police.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed these developments on Thursday.
“Mohbad’s corpse has been exhumed today, and an autopsy will begin as soon as possible,” he said.
The police spokesman also confirmed the arrest of the nurse, saying, “The nurse is our custody and I can confirm that.”
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and was buried in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, the next day.
But his death has continued to elicit outcries from his fans, many of whom have since taken to the streets in Lagos, Ogun States and other parts of the country, calling on the police to probe his death and fish out his killers.
Following Mohbad’s death, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had ordered a forensic investigation to unravel cause of the singer’s sudden demise.
Towards this end, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, raised a 10-man team, including a pathologist to, exhume and probe Mohbad’s death.
The Lagos police boss, who led the team to the site, was also expected to visit Mohbad’s father at his Ikorodu residence.
Earlier on Thursday, the police spokesman said,
“The exhumation is currently ongoing. We have here a team of health officials from the state Ministry of Health led by CP Owohunwa. The CP is also expected to visit Mohbad’s father later in the day.”
