Two suspected members of a bandit gang terrorizing parts of Abuja have been killed in an intelligence-led security operation carried out by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed the development on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, during a briefing with journalists at the FCT Police Command headquarters in Abuja.
Sanusi said he personally led the tactical operation, which was launched following credible intelligence on the movement and activities of the suspects, who had been linked to recent criminal incidents within the Federal Capital Territory.

He explained that police operatives engaged the suspects during the raid, resulting in the killing of two members of the gang.
According to him, the exercise formed part of ongoing efforts by the command to dismantle armed criminal networks operating within Abuja and its surrounding areas.
The police commissioner added that security operations have been intensified across identified flashpoints, with sustained patrols, surveillance, and targeted raids aimed at preventing further attacks.
Sanusi assured residents that the command remains committed to restoring safety across the capital, stressing that operations would continue until criminal elements are flushed out of the Federal Capital Territory.
