The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of a suspected cultist, Bashiru Saidu, who was shot dead in the Atan area of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area on Sunday.

Saidu, 44, was reportedly a member of the Eiye Confraternity and was killed during a violent clash with a rival cult group in what authorities suspect was a supremacy battle. He was shot in the head and left in a pool of blood along Bankole Onibukun Street, Atan-Ota.

Eyewitnesses said four armed men arrived at the scene on two motorcycles and opened fire during the confrontation. They fled immediately after carrying out the attack.

Confirming the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ogun State, SP Omolola Odutola, said operatives of the Anti-Cultism Unit had been deployed to track down the assailants.
