Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, says security operatives must apprehend arsonists behind the fire outbreak at one of the houses of Yoruba rights activists, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho.
Adam said this in a press statement on Tuesday titled, ‘Adams commends S/West Governors on New security arrangements with herders ….urges FG to find those that razed Igboho’s house’.
He said failure to investigate the fire outbreak at Igboho’s house could heat up the polity.
Adams, who condemned those behind the fire incident at Igboho’s house in Ibadan, said, “The fire outbreak is an attempt to frustrate the young man,” adding that it was “unfortunate that some powerful individuals in the South -West are not happy with what is happening in the region.”
While urging the Federal Government to unmask the masterminds of the fire incident, he said, “The ugly incident speaks volumes of the spate of insecurity across the country. The government is in the best position to investigate the circumstances surrounding the ugly incident so that they will not overheat the polity.”
Adams, however, commended the South-West governors for raising their voices against night and under-age grazing across the region.
He noted that the new agreement was a swift response to the growing spate of insecurity across the region.
The governors had in a meeting held on Monday with the leaders of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Akure, Ondo State Capital, agreed to outlaw open and under-aged grazing in the South-West.
Adams, who backed the new development, said in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, that the new arrangement was the governors’ response to the growing insecurity across the region.
“I commend the governors on the new development. It’s a welcome development. The underlying motive is to reduce the growing tension in the region. But in solving these problems, we need to support the South-West Security Network better known as Operation Amotekun,” he said.
