Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Abubakar Mohammed.
The Command led by CP Aina Adesola confirmed this in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, and shared on his X handle on Wednesday.
The statement read, “Acting on credible intelligence on the activities of a notorious inter-state kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate terrorising parts of Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers states, the Officer-in-Charge of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) activated a series of sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling the criminal network.
“The operation recorded a major breakthrough on 29th December 2025, when the operatives extended investigations to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leading to the arrest of one Abubakar Mohammed (male, adult).
“Following intensive interrogation, the suspect led operatives to a concealed bush location along Tobia Village by the Amasoma area of Airport Road, Bayelsa State, where a cache of arms was unearthed.

“Recovered from the location, buried and carefully wrapped in a sack, were: One (1) AK-47 rifle, Seventy-six (76) rounds of live ammunition, Two (2) AK-47 magazines.
“The investigation further yielded additional successes. At about 1801 hours on 2 January 2026, the suspect again guided operatives to another hidden arms dump located between the Ughelli–Warri axis at Uvwiamuge Forest, where one (1) K2 rifle, Forty-nine (49) rounds of live ammunition, three (3) K2 magazines, one (1) pump-action gun, and thirty-two (32) live cartridges.
“The suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”
