The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced that the written examination for candidates seeking enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force as constables will hold from April 28 to April 30, 2026.
In a statement released on Thursday, the commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, said the exercise will be conducted in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force and will take place simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The PSC explained that only applicants who passed the earlier physical and document verification stages will be allowed to participate in the examination.
It further directed eligible candidates to access the recruitment portal from Friday, April 24, 2026, in order to print their examination invitation slips, which contain essential details such as the venue, date, and time of the test.
“The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has fixed 28-30 April 2026 for the written examination for applicants seeking enlistment as Police Constables (for both General Duty and Specialist applicants).
The exercise will take place at designated centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Only candidates who successfully passed the physical and credentials screening are eligible. Qualified applicants are to log on to http://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng from Friday 24 April 2026 to print their Examination Invitation Card, which indicates the specific date, time and venue of their test,” the statement read.

Candidates were also reminded to appear with specific items on the exam day, including a pen, their National Identification Number (NIN) slip issued by the National Identity Management Commission showing a clear photograph, and a printed copy of their examination invitation card.
The commission also outlined the approved dress code for the exercise as white shorts, white T-shirt, and white canvas.
“Required items on exam day: 1. A pen 2. National Identification Number (NIN) Slip from NIMC (with clear photograph) 3. Printed Examination Invitation Card 4. Dress Code: White shorts, white T-shirt and white canvas,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the PSC stressed that the recruitment process remains completely free of charge and warned against fraudulent practices.
“The Police Service Commission reiterates that the recruitment process is entirely free and warns that any form of job racketeering, scams, or financial inducement will be met with the full force of the law.”
Applicants were also advised to depend solely on official communication channels for verified updates regarding the recruitment exercise.
