The Kwara State Police Command on Friday, May 8, 2026, confirmed the arrest of 13 suspected cultists, drug dealers and street thugs during a security raid carried out on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Tanke Junction in Ilorin.
The operation was jointly conducted by police operatives and members of the National Forest Guard following intelligence reports on criminal activities allegedly linked to hoodlums posing as commercial motorcyclists.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the suspects were involved in cultism, street violence, drug trafficking and other criminal acts disturbing public peace in parts of the Kwara capital.

She said security operatives recovered 24 motorcycles during the raid, including five without registration numbers, alongside suspected cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine known as “ice”, Colorado, tramadol and other hard drugs.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary investigations showed that the suspects allegedly used the location for drug peddling, recruitment into cult groups, intimidation of residents and planning criminal activities within Ilorin and surrounding communities.
Ejire-Adeyemi added that efforts were ongoing to arrest fleeing accomplices and dismantle the criminal network, while the suspects in custody would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
