A police patrol team attached to Agodi Police Division, Ibadan on Friday reportedly killed one Yemi Ajayi while his brother Kayode Atanda was shot in the upper left arm inside their car at Iwo road area in Ibadan North East Local Government Area of the state.

FirstNews gathered that the victims were traveling inside the Camry car when the incident occurred.

A member of the stop-and-search team, as reliably informed, fired shots at their vehicle which penetrated through the stomach of Yemi while Kayode was hit on his left arm.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gbenga Fadeyi, said the two brothers defied the police stop-and-search order.

According to him, the Patrol team received a distress call that there was robbery incident at Iwo road area.

The team swung into action by embarking on stop-and-search of the vehicles along Iwo road end of the town to fish out the perpetrators.

The occupants of the car, who later turned out to be brothers, according to the police reports, reportedly ignored the police directives.

However, in a bid to stop their car, a shot was fired by a member of the team, which accidentally hit them.

Fadeyi said that they were rushed to a nearby hospital, but one of them died while the other is still receiving medical attention.

He said the incident was still being investigated.
