Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Samuel Perry, widely recognised by his stage name Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon beneath the Sango-Ota bridge while the comedian was allegedly filming a comedy skit.
A police source who spoke anonymously because he was not authorised to comment publicly said the entertainer was injured during the filming process.
Members of his crew were said to have acted swiftly by rushing him to Blooming Care Hospital for emergency treatment.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We do not yet have the full details of how it happened, but his crew quickly transported him to the hospital,” the source disclosed.
Medical personnel at the facility reportedly administered first aid before referring him to Duchess Hospital for further treatment, where he is currently said to be recovering.
Efforts to reach both hospitals through their publicly listed contact details proved unsuccessful, as phone lines were not reachable at the time of enquiry.
Confirming the development on Thursday, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were alerted by the hospital after the injured entertainer was brought in.
“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility. Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy,” she stated.

She added that the entertainer was found on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to his thigh. However, she clarified that the location of the incident falls outside the command’s jurisdiction.
“The incident happened in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but investigations are ongoing,” Adebisi noted.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the alleged shooting had not been formally reported to the command.
“The incident was said to have occurred in Ogun State, but it has not been reported to the police here,” he said.
Attempts to reach Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered, while a text message sent to him had yet to receive a response as of the time of filing this report.
