Popular Crossdresser ‘Abuja Area Mama’ Found Dead: Social Media Mourns His Passing

Tragedy struck the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria as a well-known crossdresser popularly referred to as ‘Abuja Area Mama,’ was discovered dead in the Banex, Wuse II area on Thursday morning.

The shocking news has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with fans and followers mourning his loss and paying tribute to his memory.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but the discovery has left many in disbelief. Social media platforms have been flooded with posts expressing sorrow, sharing fond memories, and lamenting the loss of a vibrant personality who had become a fixture in the Abuja community.

Josephine Adeh, the Spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed that authorities are aware of the situation and are currently investigating the matter.

“I am with the CP and that is what they are currently working on. I will call you back once I get more details,” Adeh told SaharaReporters, indicating that the police are in the process of gathering additional information to shed more light on the incident.

This tragic event comes just days after the release of another popular crossdresser in Nigeria, Idris Okuneye, known widely as Bobrisky. Bobrisky had recently regained his freedom after serving a six-month prison sentence for the mutilation of Nigeria’s currency, the Naira. His release was met with jubilation by friends and supporters, who celebrated his return on Monday.

The contrast between Bobrisky’s celebration of freedom and the sorrow surrounding Abuja Area Mama’s death underscores the complex and often turbulent lives led by Nigeria’s crossdressers, who remain polarizing figures in the country’s cultural landscape.

As investigations continue, fans and the wider community are left to grapple with the sudden loss of a figure, whose vibrant presence will be sorely missed.
