South Africa is in shock after the death of Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, who was shot dead in central Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon, December 16, 2025.
The 40-year-old radio and club DJ was reportedly approached by a group of unknown assailants near Zambesi House, across from the Carlton Centre, before being fatally shot.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and have launched a manhunt, but no arrests have been made. The motive for the attack remains unknown.
Stock’s family described the loss as devastating. His sister, Nicole, called for privacy as they mourn.
Tributes have poured in from fans and colleagues across South Africa’s entertainment industry, who remembered him as a talented and passionate media personality.
With nearly two decades in radio and television, Stock worked with YFM, 5FM, SABC1’s Live AMP, and Mzansi Magic’s Ngicel’iVisa, and co-hosted the online Shady PHodcast.

He is survived by three children, his mother, and siblings.
