Portuguese champions, FC Porto, have confirmed the signing of Nigerian left-back Zaidu Sanusi from Santa Clara.

The 23-year-old is tied to Porto until the end of the 2024-2025 season, having put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Porto are his fourth club since his arrival in Portugal in 2016 as he previously wore the colours of Gil Vicente, Mirandela and Santa Clara.

A powerful defender, Sanusi made 27 appearances in all competitions for Santa Clara over the course of the 2019-2020 campaign, scoring one goal and assisting three others.

“I’m really happy to be a FC Porto player. I don’t even know how to explain it, but I’m very, very happy to be wearing this shirt,” said Sanusi.

“I hope to do a good job and help the team. This season we will win everything.

“The club and the fans can expect everything from me. I received many messages from FC Porto fans and that made me very happy.”

Sanusi is Porto’s third acquisition in the summer transfer window after Cláudio Ramos and Carraça.

Meanwhile, Turkish First League club, Menemenspor have started talks with Michael Ngoo and his camp over the transfer of the striker this summer.

Ngoo is currently a free agent after opting not to extend his contract with Albanian Superliga champions, KF Tirana.

The stumbling block to a deal is that Menemenspor have not met Ngoo’s wage demands, with their initial offer of 120,000 euros per season wages rejected.

But Menemenspor want the player badly and continue to thrash out a deal with the player’s intermediary.

A top division club in Hungary and First Division B team in Belgium are also involved in the battle to secure the signature of Ngoo, who ended last season as the most decisive Nigeria-eligible player in the whole of Europe, with 13 goals and 15 assists from 31 league matches.
