National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, Dan Iwuanyanwu, has alleged that some influential politicians and businessmen from the Southeast are quietly working against the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking on Monday, October 20, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Iwuanyanwu said these powerful figures fear Kanu’s strong influence among the people.
He claimed they worry that his freedom could disrupt their political and economic interests.
“There are some top businessmen who are involved in businesses in Abuja, oil and all that,” he said.

“There are some top politicians who are of the view – and which is correct – that if Nnamdi Kanu comes today, there are people whose political career will come to an end permanently without him saying a word. Nnamdi Kanu has been loved by the people,” he added.
Iwuanyanwu described Kanu’s popularity as “organic love” and insisted that the passion of his supporters has unsettled certain elites in the region.
Meanwhile, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, alongside other Nigerians, staged a protest in Abuja on Monday, demanding the immediate release of the detained IPOB leader.
