President Bola Tinubu recently conducted a significant diplomatic event in Abuja, where he officially accepted the Letters of Credence from a substantial delegation comprising 17 ambassadors and four high commissioners.
This important milestone was officially confirmed on Thursday, the 4th of December, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The Nigerian leader used the occasion to assure the international community of Nigeria’s unwavering dedication to global stability, stating emphatically that the nation “remains fully committed to promoting peace, harmony, and prosperity across borders by strengthening partnerships to resolve emerging challenges.”
President Tinubu underscored his commitment to an open-door policy and encouraged the newly accredited diplomats to foster productive dialogue with Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on all areas of shared interests and mutual benefits.
President Tinubu articulated Nigeria’s perspective on international relations, stating: “On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you to the State House, and I congratulate you on your appointments as the official representatives of your respective countries. Nigeria values longstanding friendship and strategic partnership across all regions of the world. Your accreditation today reaffirms the depth of our bilateral ties and our shared commitment to expand cooperation and partnership in areas of mutual interest.”
He further highlighted that his administration is intensely focused on three critical areas: enhancing democratic institutions, implementing economic reforms, and cultivating an environment conducive to investment, innovation, and sustainable development.
Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic group, Suzuki Hideo, the Ambassador of Japan, acknowledged the profound significance of presenting their credentials in Nigeria, given its crucial status within the ECOWAS sub-region and Africa.
