Pro-Fubara lawmakers announce date to screen new commissioner-nominee

The Rivers State House of Assembly has announced the screening and confirmation of a new commissioner-nominee.

The invitation, signed by the Clerk of the Assembly, Dr. G. M. Gillis-West, was issued on Sunday, July 7.

The screening will take place on Monday, July 8, at 10 AM in the Assembly Chamber at Government House.

The public announcement stated:

“The Rivers State House of Assembly hereby invites the commissioner-nominee, Emmanuel Frank-Fubara, for screening and confirmation as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council. The nominee is to come along with twelve sets of his Curriculum Vitae and the originals and photocopies of his credentials.”

This marks the third occasion that the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State House of Assembly, loyal to Governor Fubara, will screen commissioner nominees.

Previously, nine commissioners, including the Commissioner for Education, the Attorney General, and the Commissioner for Justice and Finance, resigned from Fubara’s cabinet. These resignations were linked to a deepening feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
