The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has issued a scathing critique of the federal government, labeling the recent discrepancies in the disputed tax law as a profound betrayal of the Nigerian public.
In a formal communication released on Monday, the 22nd of December, 2025, the National Chairman Falalu Bello expressed the party’s outrage over allegations that the executive branch modified legislative documents after they had already been approved by the National Assembly.
The controversy surfaced following disclosures from a member of the House of Representatives, suggesting that substantive changes were made to bills in secret. The PRP views this as a “dangerous pattern of executive impunity” that undermines the separation of powers and threatens the stability of Nigeria’s democratic framework.
The party’s statement was emphatic in its condemnation of the alleged tampering: “This audacious act of executive dishonesty, characterized by the insertion, deletion, and modification of substantive provisions post-passage legislation, underscores a reckless disdain for the rule of law, separation of powers, and the constitutional order. It is an unforgivable breach of trust, a mockery of the Nigerian people, and an open assault on the integrity of our legislative process.”
The PRP is calling for an immediate, transparent inquiry to identify those responsible for the alterations. Most notably, the party asserted that if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is found to be personally involved in these unauthorized changes, he must face constitutional removal from office.
The statement further elaborated on the gravity of the situation: “The executive’s actions reveal a disturbing tendency to undermine the sanctity of parliamentary procedures, defraud the nation, and arrogantly impose illegality under the guise of national interest. Such conduct erodes public confidence, fuels uncertainty, and exposes Nigeria to avoidable instability in all aspects of our national life. We insist that those found culpable, regardless of their position, must be held accountable and face appropriate punishment for their fraudulent conduct. If evidence emerges implicating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in these illegal manipulations, the PRP calls for his impeachment without delay. No individual, including the President, should be above the law.”
The PRP has demanded that the implementation of the tax laws be halted until the version passed by the legislature matches the version gazetted. Failure to rectify these discrepancies will result in the party seeking a court injunction.

The party concluded its position by stating:
“We demand the immediate suspension of the implementation of the disputed tax laws until all discrepancies, particularly the conflicts between the laws passed by the National Assembly and those gazetted are thoroughly examined, resolved, and rectified. Should this matter not be addressed promptly, the PRP will have no choice but to seek judicial intervention. We are prepared to approach the courts to stop the enforcement of these laws and seek appropriate redress for the violations committed. The PRP emphasizes that the rule of law and constitutional integrity must take precedence. Until these issues are resolved, the suspension of the tax laws is imperative to prevent further damage to Nigeria’s democratic fabric and economic stability.”
The PRP warned that the administration’s actions could diminish Nigeria’s global credibility and urged civil society and the legislature to resist this “assault on our democracy.”
