PSC Dismisses Claims of Delay in 2025 Inspector Promotion Process

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has denied allegations that it is deliberately delaying the promotion of police inspectors who participated in the 2025 promotion examinations.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the Commission, Torty Njoku Kalu, described the reports as misleading and based on unsubstantiated anonymous sources.

He said the claims wrongly portrayed the Commission’s procedures and cast doubt on its commitment to due process.

According to the PSC, promotions within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) are conducted strictly in line with established guidelines, which include the successful completion of the Departmental Selection Board (DSB) exercises.

The Commission stressed that all promotion processes are handled transparently and are subject to statutory timelines and the availability of necessary resources.

The statement further countered assertions that the PSC and the Force Headquarters had maintained “total silence” on the matter.

It clarified that officers who took part in the 2025 DSB, including those from the zones and commands referenced in the reports, have been adequately briefed on the status of their promotion evaluations through official communication channels.

The Commission also noted that it keeps detailed records of all correspondences related to promotions. Officers who may have concerns or require further clarification were advised to confirm their status through their respective commands or contact the PSC directly.

Reaffirming its stance, the PSC said it remains committed to fairness, transparency, and merit-based advancement in the Nigeria Police Force, assuring officers that no eligible candidate would be unfairly sidelined in the promotion process.
