Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal reported to be worth €55 million ($63.8 million), according to an announcement made on Monday.
In an official statement, the Spanish giants said:
“Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will join our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032,” said Los Blancos in a statement.
The 27-year-old defender, who operates primarily at left-back, moves to the Santiago Bernabéu after joining Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022.
His earlier career path also included spells at La Liga side Getafe CF, following development at the academy of former Spanish champions FC Barcelona.
Cucurella is currently representing Spain national football team at the World Cup and is the only Real Madrid player included in the squad led by coach Luis de la Fuente.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, recently re-elected earlier in June after two seasons without a major trophy, has also appointed José Mourinho as the club’s head coach this week.
The club is also expected to strengthen further in the coming months, with Liverpool defender Liverpool FC centre-back Ibrahima Konaté set to join once his contract expires at Anfield.
Madrid have also been linked with moves for Bernardo Silva and Inter Milan defender Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
For Chelsea, Cucurella’s departure comes after a difficult Premier League campaign in which the club finished 10th.
The defender had also voiced criticism over the club’s decision to dismiss Enzo Maresca in January.
Despite the disappointing league finish, Cucurella leaves Stamford Bridge having won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League in 2025, with two years still remaining on his contract at the London club.
