Chief Registrar of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Hajia Hassanat Mustapha, has escaped a fire incident on the court premises.
Also involved in the incident were her personal assistant and a driver of an 18-seater bus with registration number SCA 13 SJ belonging to the court.
The incident was said to have caused a huge scare, resulting in pandemonium as the staff made frantic efforts to quench the inferno which gutted the bus.
A source said, “The fire started from the battery head of the bus. The Chief Registrar, her aide and the bus driver jumped out of the vehicle on the court premises.
“About 25 staff of the court, attracted by the noise, rushed out to save the situation with fire extinguishers from their cars and that of the court.
“Their saving grace was Almighty Allah. If not that they forgot something that made them come back to the office, it would have been a calamity if it had happened on motion.”
It was further learnt that a client who came to prepare an affidavit rushed to inform the fire service adjacent the court complex.
The spokesperson for the fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, confirmed the incident.
“The engine compartment of the vehicle was affected but no life was lost in the incident,” he said.
