It’s the end of the road for Nigeria’s champions, Remo Stars, in the CAF Champions League, as they suffered a 2–0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria on Sunday, sealing a 7–1 aggregate exit from the competition.
The South African giants proved too strong for Daniel Ogunmodede’s men, displaying their trademark dominance on home soil to complete the double over the Nigerian champions.
Despite entering the second leg with hopes of overturning a heavy deficit from the first encounter in Ikenne, Remo Stars struggled to contain Sundowns’ attacking firepower and failed to find a breakthrough in the final third.

The defeat brings an end to what has been a challenging debut Champions League campaign for the Sky Blue Stars, who will now turn their focus to defending their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title and earning another shot at continental football next season.
While their journey ends here, the Ogun State-based side can take pride in their progress and the experience gained on the continental stage.
