Remo Stars Top NPFL Table After Beating El-Kanemi Warriors

Remo Stars have reclaimed the top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after a commanding 2-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.

The win, coupled with Rivers United’s slip against Enugu Rangers, allowed the Lagos-based team to edge ahead on goal difference.

The victory was sealed with two first-half goals. Onuoha P. opened the scoring in the 31st minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.

Just before halftime, Mawuena K. doubled the lead with a well-placed finish in the 45+2 minute, ensuring a comfortable win for Remo Stars at home.

Meanwhile, Rivers United fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against defending champions Enugu Rangers.

A solitary strike was enough for Rangers to secure all three points, pushing them to third place on the table, just two points shy of the leaders.

In other Week 16 fixtures, Nasarawa United edged out Lobi Stars 1-0 on Saturday, while Shooting Stars secured a crucial away victory over Sunshine Stars by the same scoreline.

Plateau United triumphed in a thrilling 3-2 encounter against Heartland, and Kano Pillars earned a slim 1-0 win over Katsina United.

Bayelsa United also recorded a 1-0 victory against Ikorodu City.

Abia Warriors defeated Niger Tornadoes 2-1, while Kwara United’s match against Enyimba was postponed.
