Renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away at the age of 80. His family confirmed his death in a statement on Monday, revealing that he died on October 6, 2025.

The family described his passing as a “glorious transition” from a life of devoted service to eternal rest, noting that Ukpai’s over six-decade-long ministry profoundly impacted millions across Nigeria and beyond.

“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity. His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” the family’s statement read.

Ukpai was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s foremost faith leaders, often celebrated for his dynamic teaching, evangelistic crusades, and prophetic ministry. His work helped shape the spiritual journey of many and fostered the growth of Christian evangelism in Africa.
Beyond his spiritual mission, Ukpai was described as a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to countless individuals who saw him as a guide in both faith and life.

The family expressed deep gratitude for the life and influence of the revered cleric, saying that although they mourn his departure, they rejoice that he has “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”
