The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to deploy troops to communities in Borno State recently attacked by Boko Haram, leading to loss of lives and destruction of property.
This resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance by Midala Balami, who represents Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency.
Balami informed lawmakers that Boko Haram insurgents had attacked Jibwuwhi and Yarkawa communities in Hawul Local Government Area, leaving residents displaced and properties destroyed.
“Violent attacks have persisted despite ongoing security interventions, leaving communities vulnerable to repeated assaults, loss of livelihoods, and severe humanitarian crises,” he said.
He further expressed concern that residents live in fear following the attacks, adding that the lack of adequate security reinforcement and relief efforts had worsened their suffering.
The House warned that failure to act swiftly could lead to further attacks, displacement, and a deepening humanitarian crisis.
Following the motion’s adoption, the House urged the Nigerian Army, the police, and other security agencies to deploy personnel and reinforce operations in Jibwuwhi, Yarkawa, and other vulnerable areas.

Lawmakers also called on the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and the National Emergency Management Agency, to work with the Borno State Government to provide relief materials, including food, medical aid, and psychosocial support to victims.
Additionally, the House mandated its Committees on Army, National Security and Intelligence, and Humanitarian Affairs to investigate security lapses, monitor the implementation of security reinforcements, and oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The federal government was also urged to strengthen counter-terrorism strategies, improve intelligence gathering, and enhance collaboration between security agencies and local vigilante groups to prevent future attacks.
