The 2023 Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the police of disrupting a scheduled meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Mushin Local Government Area.
In a post on his official X handle on Friday, October 10, Rhodes-Vivour alleged that APC thugs, with police support, sealed off the venue booked for the ADC’s Mushin LGA meeting.
He wrote, “The APC has controlled the affairs of Lagos State for over two decades and this is how terrified they are. This is their own indictment of their failure. Violence and intimidation are the last refuge of incompetence.”
Quoting the Oba of Benin, Rhodes-Vivour added, “If you do well by the people, you will have no fear of the people’s vote.”

According to a report shared by the ADC, the party had secured and paid for a meeting venue two weeks before its scheduled gathering on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. However, on the day of the meeting, they arrived to find police vans stationed at the gate.
The management of the facility reportedly informed the ADC that the venue was no longer available due to a naming ceremony.
“But the ADC said its members were shocked to discover that APC thugs had occupied the venue, “doing nothing but dancing to music.”
Rhodes-Vivour described the incident as another attempt to stifle political participation and maintain control through intimidation.
As of the time of this report, neither the Lagos State APC nor the state police command had issued an official response to the allegation.
