Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says he is hopeful that his recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu and former governor Nyesom Wike will pave the way for lasting peace in the state.
President Tinubu had hosted both Fubara and Wike at a closed-door meeting in Abuja on Thursday night to address the ongoing political unrest in Rivers.
Reports indicate that the President successfully brokered a truce between the two rivals.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Fubara stressed the importance of peace for the state’s progress and affirmed that the agreement reached had put an end to the crisis.
He said, “For me, it’s very important that this day has come.
What we need for the progress of Rivers State is peace, and by the special grace of God, this night, with the help of Mr. President and the agreement of the leaders of the state, peace has returned to Rivers State.
We will do everything within our power to ensure that we sustain it this time around.”
