The Rivers State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of academic activities at Wisdom Gate International School, Campus 1, in Eligbolo, following the tragic death of a two-year-old pupil.
The incident, which occurred on March 17, 2026, has drawn public attention and concern, prompting swift action from the State Ministry of Education.
In an official statement issued on April 15, 2026, the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Peters Nwagor, confirmed that the ministry had conducted an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death after engaging with the school’s management.
While expressing deep sympathy to the bereaved family, the government urged the public to respect their privacy during this period of mourning and refrain from spreading unverified information.
“The Ministry empathizes with the parents over this painful and irreparable loss. We appeal to the public to avoid speculation and allow due process to take its course,” the statement read.

As part of its immediate response, the ministry announced that the affected campus of the school has been shut down indefinitely.
The institution will remain closed until all issues related to the incident are thoroughly addressed.
