The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Kingsley Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, over the gruesome murder of his girlfriend, 44-year-old Miss Confidence Sunny, in Etche Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed the development in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on July 30 in Umuebule community, where Chinamezu allegedly attacked Sunny with a machete, inflicting fatal injuries.
After the killing, he reportedly fled the state and continued sending threats to the victim’s family, claiming he could harm them with impunity.
Following a formal complaint from Sunny’s relatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, ordered the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to take charge of the investigation.

Acting on intelligence, the operatives tracked the suspect to Egbeta village in Edo State, where he was arrested on August 15.
Police say Chinamezu is currently undergoing interrogation and profiling to determine whether he has links to other crimes.
Evidence gathered so far, according to the command, will be forwarded for prosecution once investigations are complete.
The Rivers State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining security across the state.
