The Rivers State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including three women, allegedly involved in a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate operating in Port Harcourt.
The breakthrough came after a female victim raised an alarm when she was attacked and robbed by occupants of a vehicle along the Trans-Amadi axis of the city.
Confirming the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, the State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, said operatives attached to a surveillance patrol team swiftly responded to the distress call and tracked down the suspects.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on January 28, 2025, at about 9:00 AM.
The victim, a resident of Federal Housing Estate, Trans-Amadi, reported that her phone was stolen by occupants of a green Volkswagen Vento saloon car with registration number ANAMBRA FGG 40 AA.
Acting on the tip-off, the Hyper City Unit Surveillance Patrol Team intercepted the vehicle along NLNG Road, Eastern Bypass, and arrested the following suspects:
Ifeanyi Ugo (45)
Paulina Ibe (45, female)
Nneka Precious Sunday (30, female)
Christopher Ibe (31)
Oyinyechi Ibe (48, female)
The police have taken the suspects into custody, while the recovered vehicle remains in evidence as investigations continue.
The Rivers State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to cracking down on criminal gangs, particularly those disguising as commercial transport operators to prey on unsuspecting passengers.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
