Rivers United Seal CAF Champions League Group Stage Spot Under Finidi George

Rivers United have booked their place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League after an emphatic 3–1 victory over Mozambique’s Black Bulls, marking a major milestone for both the club and their head coach, Finidi George.

With the win, Finidi becomes the first Nigerian coach in seven years to lead a domestic club to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition — a feat last achieved in 2018.

The Pride of Rivers produced a dominant display to outclass the visitors, showcasing tactical discipline and attacking flair that reflected Finidi’s growing influence since taking charge of the Port Harcourt-based side.

The victory not only cements Rivers United’s status as Nigeria’s flagbearer in the competition but also restores national pride after years of early exits by Nigerian clubs.

With the group stage set to kick off in the coming weeks, the former Super Eagles winger and his team will now shift focus to preparing for Africa’s elite challenge as they aim to make a deep run in the tournament.
