The Berom Youths Moulder Association raised fresh alarm over another violent incident in Kwi, a community under Riyom Local Government in Plateau State. The group said the late-night strike on Saturday left about seven residents dead and several more injured, blaming suspected Fulani militants.
According to the association, the attack happened around 10:30 pm. It came just hours after a farmer, identified as Kurang Daniel, was reportedly shot on his farmland earlier that same day.
A statement released on Sunday and signed by the BYM President, Dalyop Mwantiri, and Secretary-General, Bature Adazaram, accused the attackers of pushing false stories about assaults on herders to justify their actions. The group maintained that the latest invasion was not triggered by any confrontation from locals, despite claims from a Fulani group that Berom youths had earlier killed five herders and more than 50 cows.
Their statement read: “Information available to the Berom Youths Moulder Association has it that Fulani had falsely framed up usual lies and fallacies to security operatives, claiming that the natives of Kwi attacked their cows, which has not been proved, as no trace of any cow touched or herder attacked up to the time of filing this report has been factually established after a thorough search to ascertain such claim.”
The association dismissed the allegations, insisting they were part of a familiar tactic used ahead of planned assaults. They further accused some Fulani groups of working with “a certain security expert” who uses his X account to push a narrative that portrays the Fulani side as victims.

The BYM also raised concern over what it sees as a repeated pattern of attacks happening soon after peace or security meetings between representatives of both sides. They referenced a recent case where community leaders were attacked after leaving a meeting at the Sector 4 Headquarters. Four people were killed in that incident, while two others were injured and two disappeared.
Calling for stronger action, the group urged security agencies, especially the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace under Sector 4 to move against those behind the violence. Their statement added: “The Berom Youths Moulder Association is passionately appealing to Sector 4 Operation Enduring Peace to use all its arsenals and professionalism to arrest the Fulani who made such baseless and misleading calls, as well as claims, for onward investigation and necessary prosecution.”
They warned that the danger will continue if armed groups remain free to operate from suspected hideouts in Fass and nearby locations.
