Armed Robbers have attacked an off-campus hostel of students at Rivers State University, carting away no fewer than 13 mobile phones, several wrist watches, laptops, among others.

Two students, who were inflicted with deep machete cuts during the attack, had been rushed to hospital, it was learnt.

According to reports, the hoodlums invaded the students lodge at number 20 Osina street, Mile 3 Diobu, in Port Harcourt, at midnight on Wednesday.

Some of the victims, who spoke to newsmen, said there had been a series of armed robbery attacks in many of the university hostels, a situation they said, makes them to live in fear.

They added that the hoodlums were five in number and that they forced one of their victims to transfer money through a mobile app to an account provided by one of the suspected armed robbers.

Fidelis Nuale, the caretaker of the hostel, confirmed the incident but refused to make comment on the incident.

The Rivers State Police Public Relation Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, when contacted said that the matter was yet to be reported to the command headquarters. He, however, said that the command was taking proactive measures to curtail subsequent incidents of armed robbery attacks in higher institutions and to secure the lives of students and the university community.
