Members of the Rotary Club in Borno State on Monday distributed dignity kits to 100 pregnant and nursing mothers at Mala Kachalla Hospital in Maiduguri, as part of activities marking Rotary Day 2026 in the state.
The kits, which included buckets, sanitary pads, soaps, and other essential hygiene items, are designed to support women and girls during humanitarian crises, disasters, or displacement, with a focus on menstrual hygiene and overall health.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the state Rotary Club president, Abdulkareem Haruna, said the distribution reflects the organisation’s commitment to the health and comfort of mothers, highlighting their central role in family and community wellbeing.
“Today is our Rotary Day of Celebration (RODAC) 2026. In Rotary, we believe that celebrating shouldn’t just be about ourselves—it should be about how we can help our neighbours,” Haruna said. He added that the 100 beneficiaries were carefully selected to receive the support.

Haruna stressed that empowering mothers strengthens the broader community. “When a mother is healthy and supported, the whole community is stronger,” he said, urging the women to make good use of the items.
One beneficiary, Khadijat Mustapha, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as “love, care, and a genuine show of concern” that came at the right time.
The distribution underscores the Rotary Club’s focus on maternal health and its role in promoting community welfare in Maiduguri.
