Co-host of Arise TV’s The Morning Show, Rufai Oseni, has lamented the deplorable state of the Benin–Warri Road, describing it as “a total mess.”
Oseni, who shared his experience via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, said the road had become nearly impassable, causing severe delays for travelers.
He narrated how a trip that should take less than an hour turned into a six-hour ordeal. “The Benin–Warri Road is a total mess. Good a thing, I travelled to Benin yesterday. The journey that would have taken less than an hour was made for six hours. I also came back the same day. My journey from Benin back to Warri started from 4:00 p.m. and got to Warri by 9:45 p.m.,” he wrote.
The Benin–Warri Road, a major economic artery connecting Edo and Delta States, has long been notorious for its poor condition, with large sections riddled with craters, erosion, and abandoned construction sites.

Oseni’s post has sparked fresh public outrage, as many commuters and motorists echoed similar experiences of delays, vehicle breakdowns, and heightened insecurity along the route.
Road users are calling on the Federal Government and relevant state authorities to prioritise the rehabilitation of the Benin–Warri Road, citing its strategic importance to trade and regional mobility.
