Ruga in every state solution to farmers, herdsmen’s crisis — Matawalle

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has said that the adoption of Ruga by every state of the country would put an end to the crisis between farmers and herdsmen in different parts of the country.

Matawalle spoke to journalists on Wednesday after his brief meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on the security situation in his state.

The governor, who said presidential intervention has helped in sustaining peace in his state added, “All state governments must brace up and construct grazing grounds, popularly called Ruga, so as to find a lasting solution to clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country.”

According to him, provision of the grazing grounds would discourage herdsmen’s desire for relocation.

“In Zamfara, we are constructing Ruga for them. If we allow them to keep moving around, migrating from one state to another, we cannot bring this issue to an end,” he stated.
