Former Big Brother Naija winner Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has confirmed that her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, will be flown abroad for further medical treatment once doctors certify her fit to travel.
Ruth lost a leg in a crash involving a Dangote truck near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on August 13, 2025, just days after her graduation.
She has since undergone amputation and is receiving treatment at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.
Phyna, who has been at the forefront of calls for better medical support, said at the weekend that the family has now received a response from the Dangote Group, which pledged to cover Ruth’s medical and welfare expenses.
In a social media post, Phyna expressed gratitude to Nigerians who amplified her sister’s plight, writing:

The Dangote Group confirmed in an earlier statement that its officials responded to the incident, liaised with law enforcement, and visited the family at the hospital.
The company assured that Ruth’s treatment and welfare would be fully supported in line with its policies.
Phyna has pledged to continue updating the public on her sister’s condition until she is cleared to travel and transferred abroad for further care.
