A mild drama ensued on Monday during the sitting of the Presidential Panel investigating the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, as its Chairman, Justice Ayo Salami, ordered two lawyers in the legal team of the embattled anti-graft agency’s boss out of the panel’s session.
Salami asked security operatives to walk out Magu’s lawyers, Zainab Abiola and Aliyu Lemu, from the presidential villa venue immediately they were introduced.
Trouble began after Wahab Shittu, who has been appearing for Magu, stood up to introduce other members of the legal team.
Salami interrupted him and insisted that only Shittu would be allowed to defend Magu.
The panel chairman then directed security operatives to walk the two lawyers out of the venue.
