Sanwo-Olu absent as South-West govs, monarchs meet over insecurity

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwolu is absent at the ongoing security meeting which has in attendance other governors from the South-West region, traditional rulers and top security chiefs.

Governors of the region at the meeting holding in Ibadan, Oyo State capital include: Dr Kayode Fayemi(Ekiti), Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Mr Dapo Abiodun(Ogun), Mr Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and the host governor – Mr Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

Traditional rulers in attendance are: the Alaafin of Oyo – Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Ooni of Ife – Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Akarigbo of Remo – Oba Babatunde Ajayi; Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom – Fedrick Akinrutan; Olubadan of Ibadan – Oba Saliu Adetunji and Olugbon of Orilegbon – Oba Francis Alao.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, in charge of South-West, Mr David Folawuyo, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko and other heads of security agencies in Oyo State were also in attendance.

The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof Ibrahim Gambari; Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the Director General of the DSS, Yusuf Bishi, who were expected at the meeting couldn’t make the journey due to bad weather.

As at the time of filing this report, the meeting is still ongoing. The meeting started at 3pm.
