Scores feared dead as fire guts popular jetty in Port Harcourt

Barely a few hours after fire gutted four different locations destroying goods worth billions of naira, a popular jetty at Toeb area of Port Harcourt in Rivers State has been gutted by fire.

The incident, which occurred at about 10 am on Monday, destroyed about seven dug-out boats and killed scores of passengers including children and women.

An eye witness narrated that a jetty worker who could not be identified was seen smoking cigarettes in one of the boats that was laden with inflammable substances which causes the fire outbreak
