Senate Panel Clears Three Non-Career Ambassadorial Nominees

The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has approved the appointment of three new non-career ambassadors nominated by President Bola Tinubu.

The nominees are Lateef Kayode Kolawole Are from Ogun State, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke from Oyo State.

Their appointments were confirmed on Tuesday, December 16, after the committee screened and deliberated on their eligibility during a confirmation hearing in Abuja.

The confirmation comes a week after the Senate ratified the appointments of 68 other ambassadorial nominees submitted earlier by the President.

Those previously confirmed include notable figures such as former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu; former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode; former presidential aide, Reno Omokri; and former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

The new appointees are expected to join Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad, where they will represent the country’s interests, strengthen bilateral relations, and promote the government’s foreign policy objectives.
