Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State and serving senator representing Bayelsa West, has been honoured with the “Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year” award by First Daily Media Networks.
The award was presented by His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, at the network’s Fifth-Anniversary Public Lecture held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Event Center in Abuja.
The award, recognizing exemplary legislative leadership and dedication to democratic governance, was greeted with warm applause from attendees, who described the moment as a fitting recognition of Dickson’s record of integrity, consistency, and public service.
Senator Dickson who chaired the event of the annual lecture themed “How Can We Make Our Votes Count?” delivered a compelling address that highlighted the importance of civic engagement, leadership accountability, and the need for Nigerians to strengthen the democratic process.
“We must continue to act rightly within the national framework and ensure that our country performs the work it needs to do,” he said.
“Nigerians should not have to live each day feeling as though they are part of a nation losing its sanity.”
In his acceptance remarks, Dickson expressed gratitude to the organisers, First Daily Media Networks and reaffirmed his commitment to fairness, justice, and good governance.

The event also featured a keynote lecture by Dr. Sam Amadi, former NERC Chairman and governance reform expert, and panel discussions with civic leaders including Randy Peters, Majeed Dahiru, Gloria Ballason, and Frank Tietie.
