Senator Lawal Adamu Hits Back at Critics: ‘I’ve Changed Kaduna’s Political Landscape’

…Lists major achievements, dismisses re-election threats from pressure group

Senator Lawal Adamu Usman (LA), representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has fired back at critics accusing him of non-performance, declaring that his record of achievements in less than two years at the National Assembly speaks for itself.

The Senator was reacting to a statement by a pressure group, the Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD), which accused him of neglecting his campaign promises and vowed to work against his re-election in 2027.

In a strongly worded press release titled “Our Response to the Shameless Lies by a Faceless Group, Kaduna Central Movement for Development (KCMD), Against Distinguished Senator Lawal Adamu Usman,” issued by his Media and Publicity Office, Senator Usman described the group’s claims as “laughable,” “infantile,” and devoid of substance.

According to the statement, Senator Usman has brought “unprecedented developments” to the constituency, delivering projects and programs that far exceed those of his predecessors.

“Even the blind can feel the progress Senator LA has brought to Kaduna Central,” the statement said. “To call that non-performance is not only dishonest but a failed attempt to cover up the woeful legacies of past representatives.”

Dismissing KCMD as a “faceless group of jobless hirelings,” the lawmaker’s team accused the organization of peddling malicious lies on behalf of failed political actors seeking relevance.

Among the achievements listed were:

-Construction of 100 smart primary school buildings equipped with modern learning tools.

-Provision of over 200 electricity transformers across the seven LGAs.

-Boreholes and solar lighting projects to improve access to water and power.

-N500 million earmarked for scholarships and bursaries, with over 1,000 beneficiaries.

-Support for over 500 entrepreneurs with business startup capital.

-Sponsorship of WAEC, UTME and tertiary education registration for hundreds of students.

-Training for over 1,000 youths and women in skills such as soap making and fish farming.

-Over 30,000 tons of fertilizers distributed to boost agriculture.

The statement also highlighted his legislative contributions, including his motion for the expedited reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, which passed with unanimous Senate approval, as well as four motions and four bills currently in the third reading stage.

Senator Usman is also reportedly finalizing plans to construct over 20,000 kilometers of roads across the seven LGAs of his district—a major infrastructure push meant to improve transportation and boost local economies.

Concluding, the Senator’s media office said the people of Kaduna Central know the difference between propaganda and performance:

“The days when underperforming lawmakers could hide behind press statements are gone. The people can see, feel, and testify to the impact of Senator LA’s work.”
