Senator Marafa Quits APC, Says Tinubu ‘Used and Dumped Us’

Former Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of failing Zamfara State and betraying the promises made during the 2023 campaign.

Marafa, who served as the Zamfara State coordinator for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, declared his decision after a two-day consultative forum meeting in Kaduna.

He left the ruling party along with his political structure and supporters.

A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting said, “The entire structure with all its supporters hereby formally resigns from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest against the sustained injustice, mistrust, marginalisation, and deliberate neglect of Zamfara State and its people.”

Signed by Comrade Bashir Muhammad Mafara as chairman, with Dr Mannir Bature Tsafe as secretary and other members, the communiqué added that the group would soon reveal its next political move.

Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate between 2011 and 2019, accused President Tinubu of using his influence during the elections only to abandon Zamfara afterwards.

He condemned the worsening insecurity in the state, particularly the continuous kidnappings and killings, insisting that the federal government had failed to act despite making clear promises.

“The federal government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, hasn’t been able to address the persistent and senseless kidnappings and killings of innocent citizens in Zamfara State, despite the explicit promises made during the 2023 presidential campaign.

“The situation continues to worsen, leaving communities devastated and hopeless,” the forum stated.

The communiqué also cited the Kaura Namoda House of Assembly bye-election, saying villages that lost more than 40 residents in attacks were left without support from the federal government.

It further lamented that Zamfara had been excluded from key areas of national development such as security, infrastructure, and fair political representation.
