Seun Kuti Blasts Feminists, Celebrities Over Natasha’s Harassment Case

Popular Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has made his stance crystal clear in the heated controversy surrounding Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The drama unfolded after Akpoti-Uduaghan, during a television interview, accused Akpabio of sidelining her motion on the Ajaokuta Steel Complex because she rebuffed his alleged sexual advances.

Her revelation sparked a firestorm, with some of her female colleagues in the Senate turning against her instead of standing by her.

The father of two however, is not one to stay silent. In a no-holds-barred Instagram live session, he threw his full weight behind the embattled senator while calling out Nigerian celebrities and self-proclaimed feminists for their deafening silence.

Drawing a sharp comparison, he questioned why the same energy used to rally behind Annie Idibia in her marital issues with 2Face wasn’t extended to Akpoti-Uduaghan in her fight against a powerful political figure.

“About the sexual harassment case in the Senate, I stand with the Senator [Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan] 100 per cent,” Kuti declared.

He further pointed out that this was not the first time such allegations had surfaced against Akpabio, yet the outrage remained muted.

Taking aim at celebrities, he lamented their selective activism, noting how they eagerly dissected Burna Boy’s alleged unfulfilled promise to Sophia Egbueje but remained tight-lipped on an issue of national significance.

“These kinds of things cannot continue in this country,” he fumed. “What that woman [Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan] is saying is very serious. And the celebrities will not come out to support her in this kind of matter, the way everybody had something to say to defend Annie against 2Face.”

Kuti didn’t stop there. He accused many Nollywood stars of staying silent because they allegedly benefit from government handouts disguised as grants. While he admitted he wouldn’t be able to openly protest, he urged Nigerian women to rally behind Akpoti-Uduaghan and ensure her voice isn’t drowned out.
