Vice President Kashim Shettima is scheduled to present Nigeria’s national statement today (Wednesday) the 24th of September, 2025, at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a release issued on Wednesday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, the presentation is fixed for any time between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. New York time.

The statement will highlight pressing international matters such as multilateral cooperation, the need for UN reforms, climate change responses, and restructuring of the global financial system.
At the same event in 2024, President Tinubu called for Africa to be granted permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council, a demand currently receiving attention within the UN.
