Vice-President Kashim Shettima has urged northern Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing federal appointments, agricultural programmes and infrastructure projects as benefits of the administration.
Shettima made the appeal on Monday, October 12, 2026, while receiving members of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He urged the group to intensify grassroots mobilization across the region ahead of the election.

Shettima said the Bank of Agriculture had disbursed N450 billion to 700,000 smallholder farmers nationwide, claiming that northerners accounted for about 70 per cent of the beneficiaries.
The group’s Director-General and former Jigawa State governor, Abubakar Badaru, said it would enlist religious leaders and other influential figures to promote support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.
Former Kano State governor Ibrahim Shekarau, the group’s Board of Trustees chairman, said consultations with northern governors and other political stakeholders would support its mobilization efforts.
Established in September 2026, Arewa for Asiwaju seeks to mobilize support for Tinubu across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general election.
