The Kano State House of Assembly has been hit by a double tragedy following the deaths of two serving lawmakers, Hon. Aminu Saad Ungogo and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, on Wednesday, December 24.
Ungogo represented Ungogo Constituency, while Daneji was the member for Kano Municipal Constituency.
News of Ungogo’s death was first made public by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, in a post on his verified Facebook page.
“May Allah forgive Hon. Aminu Saad Ungogo, State Assembly Member representing Ungogo Constituency of Kano State,” Adam wrote.

Less than an hour later, the government confirmed the passing of Daneji.
Announcing his death on Facebook, the Director of Media at the Kano Government House, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, wrote: “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiun.
“Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal at Kano State House of Assembly died today an hour after the death of his counterpart.”
As of the time of reporting, details about the circumstances and causes of their deaths had not yet been made public.
